I want to encourage you to take lots of pictures!
Make lots of Great Memories!
You don’t have to do exactly what we do or
anything like what we do but I wanted to
share with you some of what we do!

In Our Family

Its all about Making Christmas Holiday Memories that will last your family a lifetime!

Photobucket

Our Christmas Tree Topper!

Its a Christmas Ball that my daughter Melissa made by folding 20 circles into triangles and stapling them together. She was so proud of it that she asked if we could use it as a tree topper. I of course said yes! So we didn’t unpack the Angel we have always used. Instead she put her home made Tree Topper on with a smile on her face!

Photobucket

You can also take simple things around your home and turn them into ornaments! Let your children help too! This is just a key chain with pictures in them. I let the kids put Chrismas Ribbon through it and we hung it on the tree! It used to be my key chain! Here is a picture of the finished ornament right off of our Christmas Tree! Years from now the children will look back at this and and remember making it!

Do some Holiday baking. Each year the the children and I bake different items. This year we made Mini Cherry Cheese Cakes thats been a family tradition for years. To find out how to make this easy yummy family tradition of ours click here!

Then I always find something New & different to make. I always let everyone help in making it. This year I found this easy recipe for Blueberry Crunch while I was reading over at A Stitch of Faith. It was so easy to make and so good.

Photobucket

We have made it with Strawberries too! It was really good with both kinds of berries! I can see this will be a tradition too. Here is the recipe -

Strawberry Crunch or Blueberry Crunch

1 . Butter a 9 x 13 Pan.
2. Layer the the items in the Pan in the order below.
3. 1 – Can of Crushed Pineapple 20 ounce do not drain juice.
4. 3 – Cups of Blueberries or Strawberries (fresh or frozen) I used frozen.
5. 1/4 cup of sugar (optional)
6. 1 – box of yellow cake mix (dry right from the box)
7. 2 – sticks of melted butter
8. 1 cup of chopped pecans (I made one without & it was good too)
9. 1/4 cup of sugar (optional) sprinkled over the layers.

Bake at 350 degrees for 40 to 50 minutes until it tests done and is brown on the top. Enjoy with family!

Again let me encourage you to take the time to let your children help you with cooking or baking. It does not have to be a Christmas or a Holiday. Don’t feel like you have to do alot start small give each child something small to do like butter the bottom of a pan, spread something etc. (see the smile on there face) My children all look forward to the Holidays because they all know we always do extra things. It gives you special time to together and makes memories that will last a life time!

Well can anyone guess what this is?

Its my unmailed Christmas Cards!

Keep in mind now its December 24, 2008!
I have already shared with you how things were just not going as planned.
(Kayla’s knee, husband working late, not being able to go to church as a family)
So when I got home and I saw my Christmas Cards still there, I was oh goodness! Tears were coming in my eyes. My children all were watching and said whats going to happen next mom? I then snapped this picture and carefully put the cards in a bag.

I then told my children sometimes things don’t go as planned. That I had not spent the time to carefully address each card to the exact family member or friend! The children had help me pick which card was choosen for each person. We then went to the post office to mail the cards. Did anyone else mail cards on Christmas Eve too?

Anyone that knows Kayla knows she loves to dance and has been dancing since she was 2 1/2 years old! I wanted to share with you one of her many dance pictures this one from her recital when she was 4 years old!

Photobucket
A few weeks ago Kayla hurt her knee while doing a dance leap with her sister! I took her to the ER right away, xrays & all. A few days later to her Dr. for a follow up then for a MRI. Now a the report from the MRI came back and it said Kayla’s knee was hurt worse than what we had thought.

Photobucket

So here we are at the Children’s Hosiptal with Kayla getting her knee checked. She was so upset saying to the Dr. – I CAN’T DANCE! As her eyes were about to tear he said I will fix your leg and you will be able to dance again soon.

Photobucket

He fitted her with a knee brace and said 6 weeks of therapy. That she will probably need surgery.

Jonathan is making the most of his day by enjoying the Holiday train at the Children’s Hosiptal! The girls also remember playing with this same train when they were little. The Children’s Hosiptal always has it set up at Christmas time with buttons for the children to press.

Photobucket

I knew I was forgetting things I was supposed to be doing or should had been done by now. Its now Christmas Eve. So much left to do I and did not have enough time. We have a tradition of going to Church on Christmas Eve and watching a live Christmas Play. My husband had to work late he was not getting off in time to go.
The next thing I like to do each year is get a picture of all of my children with Santa’s hats on! It turned out great – I thought. I usually pay more for the hats but this year I got them all for a 1.00 at the dollar tree. I would say it was hard to get my oldest son to put on a SANTA hat but he did (he remembered how I love the Santa hat pictures). Well here is the picture!

Photobucket

We always put our Santa hats on sing Christmas Songs too! The kids have so much fun. They all take turns in choosing what to sing. Even my oldest still sang with his hat on in the van!

Photobucket

Then in December my last child has a Birthday a few days before Christmas! We usually go to Chuckie Cheese. However a Carvel Snowman Ice Cream Cake? This is the first time we did that.

Because of Kayla’s leg we were so busy with appointments we were going to wait until after Christmas to do his Birthday at Chuckie Cheese’s — UNTIL — he said HEY MOM – Its my Birthday today I am getting ready for my party at Chuckie Cheese with a smile on his face.

So I just went by Publix and ran in not knowing what I was going to do. Then I saw the Snowman Ice Cream Cake and it was perfect. Jonathan was happy as could be! Off to Chuckie Cheese we went ~ I was lucky my oldest son could make it to his Party on such short notice!
